Do Men and Women Really Have Different Personalities?

p04bqdcr.jpg

While our physical differences in size and anatomy are obvious, the question of psychological differences between the genders is a lot more complicated and controversial. There are issues around how to reliably measure the differences. And when psychologists find them, there are usually arguments over whether the causes are innate and biological, or social and cultural. Are men and women born different or does society shape them that way?

As they say, men are from Mars.

How To Change Someone’s Minds, According to Science

In general, when we're confronted with information that contradicts our existing “web” of beliefs, our first inclination is to discount it, largely due to the amount of information and validation we have gathered over time in support of our viewpoint. In order to convince people to change their opinion one must expose them to multiple pieces of information in support of the new belief that first deconstructs their past experiences and knowledge and then rebuilds their confidence around the new idea. Brands are not exempt from this same process of changing consumer behavior, making it important to exercise not only consistent communication, but patience.

Change doesn’t happen overnight.

Play nice! How the internet is trying to design out toxic behaviour

Civil Comments, a startup that looks to remind people of the impact of their behavior online and encourage constructive criticism and harmony instead of negativity and bullying, is piloting its latest software which requires users to rate select comments from other users on quality of argument and civility before publishing their own post. The final step in the process is asking users to then rate their own comment for civility and quality of argument, giving them an option to edit prior to posting.

Think before you post.

Why We Feel Music

maxresdefault-3.jpgWe love Jason Silva, in the right doses. Whether you're watching Brain Games, or his Shots of Awe on YouTube, the guy is fun to listen to and watch - and he's able to ignite a thirst for wonder about the world around us (and within us) with his short videos.

In any case, his latest Shot of Awe talks about the power of music, which is an inescapable topic as we all create branded content, commercials, sponsored playlists - and it's easy to see how important music is to the world - it's the top-searched term, far and away, on YouTube.

So, settle in, and take a shot to the noggin with Jason for a moment, and then go find some Zeppelin - or whatever you're into - and have a great afternoon :)
